2003-07-10 - 7:35 p.m. Schroedinger's Catbox Online relationships are the Schroedinger's Catbox of life. In seven hours, I open the box and check on the cat at SeaTac airport, Flight #72. The countertops are bleached, the dishes are done, and the laundry is in its final cycle; the house has never looked so clean, and now there's nothing to do but wait. I could easily be fooled, walking into my own apartment, into thinking that someone orderly and routinely neat lives here. I hope I still have fingernails by the time her plane lands. It would hardly be polite to greet someone without a handshake -- "Oh, sorry, can't shake hands, they're covered in blood."
